Every Saturday & Sunday in the month of December, families can do something a little different and learn interesting things about various fine arts. There are a large number of activities to choose from such as set design, stage makeup as well as dance.

This estate becomes no less than a magical land during the holidays. This stunning place is built on 444 acres of land and the tree lighting that’s held on Dec 1st kick-starts the season.
Carols and hot chocolate welcome the visitors after which the stunning tree is illuminated and the children can write a letter to Santa or make crafts etc.

This parade is interesting, impressive and fun; there are a number of beautifully illuminated watercrafts that travel in Ft Lauderdale all along the Inter coastal Waterway and head towards Pompano Beach.
There are fun activities for families starting from 3.30 onwards and you can buy tickets to the parade (that starts at 7.00) for assigned seats within the Birch State Park.

Since the region has a reverse produce season, December becomes the best time to participate in the local strawberry picking activities. You can choose between Knaus Berry Farm and Burr’s Berry Farm- both these farms offer a number of treats and goodies as well as the much sought-after strawberry pick options.
The farms have a lot of fresh farm produce that visitors can sample, there are fruit pies, cinnamon rolls, jams, and milkshakes too.
The holiday season sees Zoo Miami awash with millions of Christmas lights-covered life-sized animal displays. At this time of the year, the zoo is open even at night from 7 pm to 10 pm and you and your family can enjoy the stunning displays while gorging on cookies and sipping on hot chocolate.
The other attractions are the Snowman’s River boat ride and a visit with Santa.

George Balanchine’s, The Nutcracker will be presented by Miami City Ballet starting Dec 15th.
This year the ballet will feature new costumes and set designs; live orchestra and superb choreography are the highlights of the show. You can watch this show either in West Palm Beach at the Kravis Center or the Adrienne Arsht Center.

The holiday season is incomplete without a New Year’s Eve celebration. Fort Lauderdale’s Young at Art Museum and the Miami Children’s Museum both have very interesting Noon Year’s Eve events for toddlers- the YAA has a countdown to the balloon drop as well as foot-tapping live music and kids can enjoy apple juice “champagne”, confetti and balloon drop at MCM.
